Maria Nazareth F. da Silva

Maria Nazareth Ferreira da Silva is a zoologist from Manaus, Brazil.

Da Silva has, for many years, specialised in the study of Amazonian mammals. She has described several new species of mammals, most of which are rodents:

• Metachirus aritanai, the Aritana's brown four-eyed opossum^[1]
• Saguinus kulina, the Kulinas' mustached tamarin^[2]
• Plecturocebus grovesi, the Alta Floresta titi^[3]
• Cacajao ayresi, the Aracá uakari^[4]
• Cacajao hosomi, the Neblina uakari^[5]
• Coendou ichillus, the Streaked dwarf porcupine^[6]
• Coendou roosmalenorum, the Roosmalen's dwarf porcupine^[7]
• Mesomys occultus, the Tufted-tailed spiny tree-rat^[8]
• Proechimys echinothrix, the Stiff-spine spiny rat^[9][10]
• Proechimys gardneri, the Gardner's spiny rat^[9][11]
• Proechimys kulinae, the Kulina spiny rat.^[9]
• Proechimys pattoni, the Patton's spiny rat^[9]
• Neacomys aletheia, the Upper Juruá bristly mouse^[12]
• Neacomys elieceri, the Eliécer's bristly mouse^[13]
• Neacomys jau, the Jaú bristly mouse^[14]
• Neacomys marajoara, the Marajó bristly mouse^[15]

She has written, and contributed to, many papers and articles on the subject, and currently works for the National Institute of Amazonian Research.
