Martins Chike Amaewhule ⓘ is a Nigerian politician who serves as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly of the Rivers State House of Assembly.[1] He previously served as Majority Leader of the House.
He represents the Obio-Akpor I constituency in the Assembly. A loyal member of the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party He was first elected in 2011 and re-elected in the March 2016 election rerun.[2][3]
Political career
Amaewhule was first elected to represent Obio-Akpor I Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly in 2011 and was subsequently re-elected. He served as Majority Leader of the 9th Assembly before being elected Speaker of the 10th Assembly in June 2023. During the political crisis in Rivers State, he led a faction of the House of Assembly. In 2025, the Supreme Court affirmed the legitimacy of the Amaewhule-led leadership of the House.[4][5][6]
