History
The MetroX service began on August 31, 2009. MetroX was developed designed with the weekday commuter in mind. When fully rolled out MetroX will bring express transit to Park & Ride lots along 100-series highways within HRM, along the three 100-series highways that lead into the Halifax Regional Municipality; those highways being Highway 102, Highway 103 and Highway 107. At the end of August, 2009, MetroX service began with weekday service from Upper Tantallon to Downtown Halifax. On May 31, 2012, daily service along the Highway 102 corridor began between Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Downtown Halifax commenced. Weekday service on the Highway 107 corridor began on November 18, 2013.
Routes 330 and 370 were renamed to "Regional Express" around 2016-2017, exact dates are unknown. Buses used on MetroX routes still had MetroX branding. The original GMC cutaway buses used on Route 330 ordered in 2009, were retired in 2018, with 2 of the buses going to Bridgewater Transit.
Route 320 kept its MetroX name on Halifax Transit timetables until around 2020 when the MetroX part was dropped. The Nova Bus LFS buses assigned to Route 320 and 330 were repainted into a special variant of the Halifax Transit livery, with icons of planes on the side of the bus and new "AIRPORT EXPRESS" lettering. The buses were repainted between May 2020 and Early 2023.
The 2013 Glaval Bus Legacy buses retained their MetroX livery, only being used on Route 330 after 2020. 540 retired in 2020 and was auctioned off. The rest were retired between August and November 2025.
MetroX logos can still be found on some Park & Ride signs in Sheldrake Lake & Fall River, as those signs have not been replaced.
