Major facilitator superfamily domain containing 5 is an atypical SLC expressed in neuronal plasma membrane.^[5] It is a plausible Solute carrier transporter.^[6] It transports molybdate anions,^[7] and it interacts with GLP-1R.^[8] In humans, it is encoded by the gene SLC61A1.^[9]
