At the 2021 European Youth Weightlifting Championships held in Warsaw, Poland, he competed in the 96 kg category and won the silver medal with 144 kg in the snatch, 177 kg in the clean & jerk, and a total of 321 kg.[2]
The same year, he took bronze at the 2021 Youth World Weightlifting Championships in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, lifting 147 kg in snatch, 179 kg in clean & jerk, and totaling 326 kg.[3]
In 2023, at the European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest, Romania, he lifted 157 kg in snatch and 192 kg in clean & jerk, for a total of 349 kg and won the bronze medal.[4]
He also competed at the 2023 Junior World Weightlifting Championships where he ranked fourth with a total of 353 kg.[5]
In 2024, moving up to the 109 kg category, Burun won the silver medal at the 2024 World Junior Weightlifting Championships in Lima, Peru, lifting 168 kg in snatch, 198 kg in clean & jerk, and totaling 366 kg.[6]
The same year, he became the European Junior Champion at the 2024 European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Durrës, Albania, with 165 kg in snatch and 204 kg in clean & jerk, for a total of 369 kg.[7]
He also participated in the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships (Sofia, Bulgaria), ranking eighth in the 109 kg category with a total of 357 kg.
At the 2025 European Weightlifting Championships in Chișinău, Moldova, Burun lifted 170 kg in snatch, 207 kg in clean & jerk, and totaled 377 kg to place eighth.[8]
