History

Formation

Pacífico Fútbol Club was created in January 2010 after Deportes Palmira was relocated from Palmira to Buenaventura following financial difficulties and a lack of municipal support.[3] The move was approved at a DIMAYOR club assembly and the squad was largely rebuilt using players from the defunct Deportes Palmira roster.[4]

2010 season

In its debut season Pacífico finished ninth of thirteen teams in the regular phase of the 2010 Categoría Primera B with a record of 11 wins, 14 draws and 11 losses (39 goals for, 36 against) in 36 games totaling 47 points. This was outside the top eight required to advance to the quadrangular stage.[5]

2011 season

For 2011, the Categoría Primera B, reverted to a split season formation with an Apertura and a Finalización tournament. Pacífico finished third of thirteen clubs in the Apertura with 29 points, qualifying to the quarterfinal stage, where the club eliminated Uniautónoma before being knockout in the semifinals by Cortuluá.[6] The club's form declined sharply in the Finalización in which it finished sixteenth of eighteen team with 15 points.[7] The club's under 19 also took part in the Copa San Buenaventura, a local youth tournament held in the city.[8]

Relocation to Sincelejo

At a DIMAYOR club assembly on 13 December, 2011, a request from club president Nelson Soto Duque was approved to relocate the team from Buenaventura to Sincelejo. where it was renamed Sucre F.C.[9]
