Paul Armstrong began his career in the United States, working for major media and entertainment companies during the early digital boom. Based in Los Angeles, he was involved in leading digital initiatives for these companies, which provided insights into consumer behavior and social platforms.[9] After returning to the UK, he joined the global media agency Mindshare, where he headed the social technologies team.[10]
In 2017 he wrote "Disruptive Technologies: Understand, Evaluate, Respond," published by Kogan Page, which serves as a strategic manual for organizations to navigate and integrate rapid technological shifts, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, and quantum computing. Throughout his career, he has advised various Fortune 500 companies, including PwC, Coca-Cola, and Unilever, and was a founding member of the Digital Centre of Excellence for the UK Government at 10 Downing Street.[11][12][13]
Paul Armstrong transitioned from agency roles to independent advisory, concentrating on assisting organizations in navigating technological change. He established an advisory service aimed at helping C-suite executives at various companies understand and strategically apply emerging technologies. He currently operates the TBD Group, a technology advisory and intelligence firm that focuses on the intersection of technology, behavior, and data.[14][15][16][17]
Armstrong's writing has been featured in various publications, including Business Insider, Cool Hunting, Forbes, The Guardian, and The Standard.[18][19] He currently has a column in City AM, where he writes about topics related to marketing, AI, and technology.[20][21] His book "Disruptive Technology" is an Amazon bestseller and is used as a strategic framework for understanding digital disruption.[22]
