Pompey the Conqueror (Spanish: Pompeyo el conquistador) is a 1953 Mexican comedy drama film directed by René Cardona and starring Joaquín Pardavé, Manolo Fábregas and Pepita Morillo.[1] The film's sets were designed by the art director Manuel Fontanals.

Plot
The narrative follows a complex dual identity involving a young medical student (Manolo Fábregas) who develops severe hypochondria after being forced into his studies. To escape his responsibilities, accommodate his neuroses, and manipulate those around him, the young man fabricates a convenience scheme by pretending to have an identical twin brother.
This scheme becomes completely intertwined with the antics of a man known to the public as two completely different siblings: Don Pompeyo and Froilán (Joaquín Pardavé). To the local community, Don Pompeyo is an outgoing, charismatic womanizer who recklessly spends every cent he acquires, whereas Froilán is depicted as a strict, humorless, and highly formal individual. Although the town believes they are supporting two estranged brothers who curiously are never seen in the same room together, it is ultimately revealed that Pompeyo and Froilán are the exact same person. Driven by an unusual psychological trigger, his personality shifts entirely whenever he consumes a bottle of wine, causing him to cause chaos under both identities. Through a chaotic string of comic errors, overlapping deceptions, and the medical student's own twin ruse, the dual identities clash until the truth is exposed to the community.
