• MV June Aster ship fire
  • The death toll from the MV June Aster ferry fire off Coron, Palawan, Philippines, rises from five to 35 after firefighters boarded the burned vessel and recovered 30 additional bodies. The coast guard continues searching for dozens of missing passengers and crew. (Reuters)

  • A case of Ebola is reported in the Sud-Ubangi province, making it the seventh province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo the outbreak has spread to. (The Independent)

• The Seoul Central District Court acquits former South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol on charges that he appointed his defense minister, Lee Jong-sup, as ambassador to Australia to obstruct an investigation into a South Korean marine's drowning during the 2023 floods. (AP)
• South Africa extradites six Nigerian nationals allegedly belonging to Black Axe to the United States, where they face wire fraud and money laundering charges linked to online romance scams that allegedly defrauded more than 100 victims. (Reuters)
