The act provided that any action, prosecution or other proceeding brought against a person for an act done in pursuance, or execution, or intended execution, of an Act of Parliament or of any public duty or authority had to be commenced within six months of the act, neglect or default complained of, and it entitled a successful defendant to costs taxed as between solicitor and client.[c] Section 2 of the act repealed a large number of earlier, similar provisions scattered across the statute book, replacing them with this single, general limitation period.
