Stráne pod Tatrami (until 1948 Folvarky German: Forberg, Hungarian: Tátraalja, Rusyn: Странє под Татрамі) is a village and municipality in Kežmarok District in the Prešov Region of north Slovakia.[4]

History
In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1438. It belonged to a German language island. Before the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, Stráne pod Tatrami was part of Szepes County within the Kingdom of Hungary. From 1939 to 1945, it was part of the Slovak Republic. On 27 January 1945, the Red Army dislodged the Wehrmacht from Stráne pod Tatrami in the course of the Western Carpathian offensive and it was once again part of Czechoslovakia. The German population was expelled in 1945.
Geography
The municipality lies at an altitude of 693 metres (2,274 ft)[2] and covers an area of 4.21 km2 (1.63 sq mi) (2025).[5]

It has a population of 2580 people (31 December 2025).[7]
Ethnicity
In year 2021 was 2289 people by ethnicity 2190 as Slovak, 150 as Romani, 25 as Not found out, 7 as German, 2 as Czech, 2 as Rusyn and 2 as Polish.

The vast majority of the municipality's population consists of the local Roma community. In 2019, they constituted an estimated 95% of the local population.[10]
