There were four diving events and 15 swimming events contested.^[2]^[3]

The Empire Pool had been specifically built for the Games and opened on 18 April 1958. It cost £650,000 to build and had space for 1772 spectators.^[4]^[5]

Australia topped the medal table with seven gold medals.^[6]
