Major expansion, May 2026
I have substantially expanded this article to cover the wing's full history across three eras: the Korean War strike mission (1952–1958), the Luke AFB fighter training period (1969–1994), and the current Kirtland special operations training mission (1994–present). Changes include:
- Full History section covering all three periods, with inline sfn citations to page level
- Commanders table, 1952–2008, sourced to AFHRA
- Expanded Lineage section: assignments, components, stations, and aircraft tables
- Notes/citations/bibliography block; book sources cited with page numbers per B1
Primary sources: Futrell's The United States Air Force in Korea (1983, pp. 487–684), Ravenstein's Air Force Combat Wings (1984, pp. 93–95), Maurer's Air Force Combat Units of World War II (1983, pp. 121–122), Endicott's Active Air Force Wings as of 1 October 1995 (1998, p. 158), and AFHRA fact sheets for the 58 SOW and 58 OG.
