@Amigao You have removed the Global Times reference while in my opinion it has followed WP:RSOPINION. I also disagree with your interpretation of WP:ABOUTSELF that you stated in the summary of the edit that reverted by attempt to re-insert the citation. Past discussions about WP:ABOUTSELF such as those about X and other social media platforms were not references to support statements about the social media platforms themselves. They were instead about the subject matter publishing information about themselves on those platforms. In the Global Times article, Lam was expressing his views in an interview with Global Times, which is like the case of a subject matter publishing their views on social media. Mind you, Lam refused to be interviewed by Hong Kong media, so we must rely on Chinese state media for his views on his resignation. There are indeed Hong Kong news reports that reported on his interview with Global Times, but using those instead of the Global Times interview directly makes it more reliable or makes common sense. - That is not a permissible use of a WP:DEPREC. Points #2 and #3 of WP:ABOUTSELF would mean that a deprecated source like WP:GLOBALTIMES would not be permissible in this context. - Amigao (talk) 15:55, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
