Talk:Andy Beshear

Lead infobox image

I have reverted the lead infobox image to a 2024 image. The previously used image is more recent—2025—though Beshear's expression is unfavorable and the image quality is less than ideal (grainy). --PerpetuityGrat (talk) 13:51, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

Yeah, I've changed it back myself twice now. It's a bizarre choice of image. Moreover it was taken only months after the 2024 photograph. The first attempt at incorporating it into the article was made by an account that appears singularly devoted to changing the main article images of various politicians to grainy, candid photos with odd expressions. Not to suggest intent here, but I really question the purpose. 2603:6011:5B00:C8:6D4A:49A4:2A5A:BFA1 (talk) 23:10, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
I don't think the newer image is that bad, either in terms of quality or facial expression. But the 2024 image is slightly better, for sure. I would just like to see this settle down. Stefen 𝕋ower's got the power!!1! GabGruntwerk 23:24, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
I changed it back to the 2025 one before checking out the talk page. I would argue that the photo from 2025 is better because it is more centered and symmetrical. The older one was taken at a weird angle and in my opinion was visually off-putting as such. RideTheLightning99 (talk) 19:14, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

Is Andy Beshear a Centrist?

First, I hope any responders will avoid partisan political discussion, per WP:NOTFORUM. What I would like to know is how deep is the sourcing that would support the subject being a centrist, per recent labeling of such in the article (that I reverted for now). Based on policy, it appears Beshear comes from a mixed ideological background, actually taking progressive-left positions on some issues. At any rate, we need considerably better sourcing before slapping on hard ideological labels. Currently, the prose says he is a "moderate Democrat". Is that really the same thing as a centrist? Or does it mean mainstream Democrat or more toward the conservative end of a left-leaning party? Stefen 𝕋ower's got the power!!1! GabGruntwerk 02:08, 26 October 2025 (UTC)

Location of birth

We have reliable sources saying Beshear's birth was in either Lexington or Louisville. How to resolve? Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 05:36, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

December 2025 removal of content

On December 17, content was removed with the summary "All non WP:RSP sources plus WP:SYNTH, WP:COATRACK, WP:UNDUE etc. Please stop adding promotional clutter". I might agree with much of the removal, but some of the reasoning used is inaccurate. The sources were not "all non WP:RSP", as there were many reliable, secondary sources in the mix (e.g. WDRB and The Lane Report). Beyond that, though, WP:SYNTH and WP:COATRACK are reasonable judgments for a lot of the material as it appears to some degree that a non-RS-based narrative was created from disparate facts pieced together. WP:UNDUE is a weaker argument, but still plausible. "Promotional clutter" rings a bell as some of the material gave the feel of building up the subject for the next political campaign, and economic expansion in the state is not always due to a governor's efforts.

I'm starting this topic to see if there is any feedback regarding this removal, and whether any of the removed content should be restored. Stefen 𝕋ower HuddleHandiwerk 21:15, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
