Divider placement

It has been brought to my attention the divider at the checkout should be placed longways (ends in pointing outward toward each customer’s groceries) behind or before the groceries instead of just across. Longways cause the sensor on the conveyor belt to kick off. Is this true? 2604:F140:8029:FF8F:3116:27E0:7738:7673 (talk) 06:10, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

"spratchet"

I can't find any reliable sources that refer to a checkout divider as a "spratchet". It's all urbandictionary, twitter/X, and other user-contributed sites. WACGuy (talk) 19:12, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
