@Modun, I'm not opposed to a mention, but I think a full paragraph is too much for both conflicts, given how much ground needs to be covered. I know I just said the article was far too long, but checking again I can't believe it's under 8900. Remsense ‥ 论 05:59, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

OK, maybe I should rephrase the deleted paragraph to two lines? The key point here is China's supply of materials, rearmament, and training to North Vietnam, made possible by its victory in the mainland civil war. Ultimately, the sources cited confirm this. Modun (talk) 06:25, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

The phrase "third phase" there seems very undesirable to me, since the CCP uses the name "Third Revolutionary Civil War" for the period 1945 to 1949. I plan to put that into the article soon. Ed Moise (talk) 21:08, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

In the infobox I have made the dates of the first and second phases less precise. I don't think it is realistic to consider these phases to have begun or ended on precise dates.

I came here to say much the same thing. According to the infobox, the third phase lasted from 1950 until 1961, but the date 1961 doesn't appear anywhere in the article outside the infobox, nor do the years on either side (1960 and 1962). There were the first two Straits Crises (in 1954–5 and 1958), various Islamic insurgencies in the west of the country (1950–58), and the Burmese border conflict (1960–1). My guess is that these events collectively are being considered the third phase. However, it's not a term I recognise: I'm not an expert, but I've always considered the Civil War to have ended with the Kuomintang's retreat to Taiwan and the fall of Hainan and the Wanshan Archipelago in 1950.

Im not sure how to get the ball rolling on this, but I think the beligerants should be decluttered and a seperate order of battle page be created for on a 'units involved' section. Perhaps a more experience editor could chime in? ManU9827 (talk) 21:12, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

I moved the armed forces to the units involved section and only kept the parties and the states they controlled in the belligerents section. Wasting time is still my passion (talk) 21:45, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

I think this makes the units involved section too broad, a more in-depth order of battle page would show the changing compositions of the armies more well. ManU9827 (talk) 22:41, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
