There isn't anything in the article about how coins were made. There are references to "striking" coins and the mysterious word "incuse" appears, without any explanation. Some knowledgeable person ought to write a section on the techniques used to make coins in the different periods. I believe some sort of punch and die was one early method, with the image carved I'm guessing in reverse (in what material?) and then hammered to transfer the image to the coin. I mention this because I came across a passing reference to the Florentines making their gold florins like this. I suppose other techniques exist. METRANGOLO1 (talk) 16:41, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

There is such content elsewhere, a brief section at History of coins#Minting technologies and a full article at Mint (facility), but yes, though we have "produced in large quantities at a mint" in the lead and both those articles are in the See also section, we've nothing more direct here. Coin#Cultural references is an odd mixture: a fifteenth-century painting, Moby Dick, thirty pieces of silver and the widow's mite, and obols in Greek funerary practice. There are so many other possibilities. Before the list gets any longer, should we set criteria, or even simply remove the section? NebY (talk) 19:42, 16 November 2025 (UTC)

bank notes last a range of time based primarily on material used and how much use the bill gets. 4 years is awfully specific given it could be a year to 20 years or more. ~2026-27106-8 (talk) 17:16, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
