Talk:Corruption in Ba'athist Syria

Article rename

Considering renaming this page to simply "Corruption in Syria" to include a more encompassing view of corruption through the nation's history. Any reason not to? DaltonCastle (talk) 22:32, 20 March 2025 (UTC)

Anyone care to comment? If there's no argument against I think I am going to move this page to Corruption in Syria and keep a subsection for Ba'athist Syria. DaltonCastle (talk) 21:04, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

Yeah like Syria is like far from corruption-free. I agree both made it a subsection or just made a brand new article on it Phudeptrai47540370870 (talk) 00:52, 30 July 2025 (UTC)
Renaming the article to "Corruption in Syria" is the correct long-range goal.
On the other hand, when @Shadowwarrior8 moved the page from "Corruption in Syria" to its current title, their edit summary was "Shadowwarrior8 moved page Corruption in Syria to Corruption in Ba'athist Syria: updated to more precise title" and I see their point: there is nothing in the article that does not describe Syria during the Ba'athist era from 1963 to late 2024. I will update the Corruption Perceptions Index data from 2023 to 2024, but that update will still describe Ba'athist Syria.
When we have any information to add to the article about corruption in post-Ba'athist (or even pre-Ba'athist) Syria then I will be able to endorse DaltonCastle's proposal enthusiastically rather than halfheartedly as now.
