Can we add 1 on this page? Eric Cardinal (talk) 04:41, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Eric Cardinal: No, it appears to be a promotional website with a narrow focus. GoingBatty (talk) 05:09, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Eric Cardinal: As an external link, no, it would be considered spam. If you think there's a way to use that page as a reference, you might possibly have a case, but it seems unlikely. What fact or statement do you think could be added to the article based on what appears at that link? — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:12, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, thats was our intent, since the page talks about Prepaid credit card, which is one of the best way new immigrant can build credit score in canada, we wanted to link to this page since its one of the best article and recent information about ways this subject. thanks for you help it'S always appreciated ! 209.226.127.190 (talk) 18:36, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- This page gives an informative overview—and leads directly from that into a sales pitch for two prepaid cards that can be bought through other pages on the same website. It's a commercial site and not an appropriate source. Largoplazo (talk) 23:09, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

Globalize
Thank you, whoever inserted the image of South African credit cards.
Nevertheless, aside from a few sections, the article and its references are American. Content which is specific to the United States, such as legislation, needs to be in a separate section. For example, the section "developments outside North America" should be at the core of the article and replaced by a section such as "Developments in the United States". This would just replace the American POV with an international one. Smart cards were in use around the world long before the United States adopted them.
The paragraph about Bellamy's book doesn't belong here. The card didn't exist, and it wasn't a credit card. So I've deleted it.
Reconcile: this article says "In 1958, Bank of America launched the BankAmericard in Fresno, California, which would become the first successful recognizably modern credit card." Yet Mastercard says "BankAmericard's debut in September 1958 was a disaster".
The article probably needs to be updated in general. My credit card hasn't looked like that for a long time. However, an article about such a complex subject could only be revised safely by an editor with plenty of knowledge about it.

Women and access to credit cards
I've been told that for quite a while, women were unable to get their own credit cards, that they were always under their husband's name. I came here looking to see when that changed, but I didn't see any mention and a search on the page for the word "women" got zero hits. This seems like an important historical fact. Could someone with the time and skill at finding sources confirm and add a section on this if it's true? Critterkeeper (talk) 17:32, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
