Not computer?
User:Sebbog13 just changed the short description of this article to remove "computer" from "computer scientist". This is not an improvement; my primary professional affiliation is as a computer scientist. However, I don't think it rises to the level of vandalism where I can revert it myself. Someone else please do so. (Sebbog13 also removed the birth year from the short description but I don't care about that.) —David Eppstein (talk) 02:02, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- WP:SD40: "Short descriptions exceeding 40 characters may be truncated in some contexts.", but sure, I can revert it back. - Sebbog13 (talk) 02:08, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- That doesn't mean you should go about truncating the important words from them yourself. Anyway, thanks for the revert. —David Eppstein (talk) 02:30, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
Notability
I see that this article has been nominated for deletion twice before, although both of those nominations seem to have been made in bad faith, and were rejected for that reason. Nevertheless, reading through the article, I'm not sure I see the requirements of WP:PROF being met, but I don't have enough subject matter expertise to say for sure. I'd invite someone more familiar with the field to enlighten me, if possible. Riposte97 (talk) 07:17, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- He meets both The PROF and The GNG (go Google/Yahoo/DuckDuckGo... searches for the meaning), and meeting only 1 is enough to guarantee wiki-notability. Answered your question? Any other question, padawan? MathKeduor7 (talk) 09:12, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- Haha, no I suppose not. Riposte97 (talk) 11:36, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- Obviously, I'm not going to weigh in on any AfD for this article, but you might find the recent Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/T. R. N. Rao informative about what sorts of statements in articles about academics match up with criteria in PROF. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:41, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- A relative of Jeffrey Epstein? ~2026-83883-5 (talk) 18:24, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- Rao? I doubt it. Me? Not as far as I know. We don't even spell our names the same. It's a pretty common surname (previous candidates for most famous: Beatles manager or that character from Welcome Back Kotter), but my spelling is less common. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:35, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

Autobiography
Written as an advertisement. The biography of a scientist shall be based on comprehensive and deep overview and evaluation of his/her work and research achievements - here in the computer science and mathematics. The only Wikipedia rule applicabe here shall be reject all Wikipedia rules. The evaluation of Eppstein's "greatness" shall be based on the achievements elevating him above mediocricity - if any. My advice to him is to move this article to the user personal page. IHMO, the existing article has no cognitive values. ~2025-40181-31 (talk) 19:23, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
