Rearrange the article's pictures
Hello Danngarcia. Welcome to Wikipedia. I was about to rearrange the pictures to proper columns. Please do not change it. --61.9.65.8 24 June 200961.9.65.95 (talk) 08:28, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
POV
The latter part of the introductions sounds like it came out of a PR page. I was going to stick {{advert}} on it but for now I'll make a few edits to "help" it. The "Controversy" portion may not be germane or notable to the article, so additional editing maybe needed. Shouran (talk) 02:31, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
deceptive advertising on can of sloppy joe ( s a u c e ) E
The image of the meaty burger like sloppy joe is very large and in color and in giant letters SLOPPY JOE at the top of the can, leading consumers to believe that this product contains meat and is ready to use. However
in very tiny print if one examines the label closely you will read the word ( SAUCE ) to me this is a clear case of deceptive advertising, and I am very disappointed in Del Monte I thought more highly of this organization. Clearly this is a reflection of the corporate culture. I see that your PR is up and running at maximum, but you have got to back it up with substance and integrity. It is always sad when the leadership of an organization stops believing in the positive potential of their own business and products. This is the kind of cynicism that causes american businesses to fail. O K now you can all have a good laugh, after all I'm just a stupid fool who buys your products, you business geniuses know all the true realities of marketing strategies, and you wont go bust on account of my comments. Thank You. Ed Kuckelkorn —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.40.173.223 (talk) 03:46, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
If you consider the sauce thing cynical, you should read the pages on Del Monte's peers Dole and Chiquita! Lesbro (talk) 21:14, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
Split of Company
There's a lot of recent history missing here. I took a first stab at it, but this article needs major work.
In 2011, the company was taken from public to private by KKR. They then split the company into two pieces: food (i.e. "people food") and pet. The pet business became Big Heart Pet Products. The food business was sold to Del Monte Pacific Limited, which was the company that sold their products in the Philippines and owns the S&W brand outside of the US.
CONSENT DECREE explanation?
Just wondering exactly what the purpose of this "CONSENT DECREE" is? Haven't come across that type of content on Wikipedia before. PcPrincipal (talk) 19:22, 19 June 2018 (UTC)
Pop culture refrences
Under the heading "Pop culture references," the statement "the Man From Del Monte was found to have an unexpectedly young wife, and the campaign was 'put on hiatus' in early 2000" doesn't seem to have any factual basis. Also, "unexpectedly" implies a subjective point of view. Citizen127 (talk) 19:44, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- Perhaps it was a joke. But unsourced for two years it probably needs to go. I can find no online source. So I have removed it. However, nearly everything else there is also unsourced. 86.190.109.179 (talk) 20:31, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Deaths at Del Monte Kenya should not be noted here - Wrong Del Monte company.
The criticism section includes a paragraph about the deaths at Del Monte Kenya. Del Monte Kenya is part of Fresh Del Monte NOT Del Monte Foods. These are two different companies with no shared ownership, a fact noted on the Fresh Del Monte Produce Wikipedia entry. This section should therefore be removed from this page. 92.27.67.174 (talk) 13:37, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
Man from Del Monte
The Man from Del Monte advertising campaign has it's own dedicated article, so can hardly be described as "trivia". It's very surprising there has been no mention of it in this article until now. I'd suggest that a brief summary paragraph is wholly WP:DUE. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:39, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
