- The main body is essentially six paragraphs which is a bit difficult to navigate. Maybe a couple of subsection titles (e.g., early life, Civil War career, etc) may ease the reading flow. I will leave it up to you as people have different opinions about this.

- Add a citation to support the quote "phthisis pulmonary", also wikilinked to Tuberculosis as this seems to be the historic medical term?
- @A.Cython: - it's from the following cited source (Welsh). My understanding has always been that so long as the next source contains the quoted material and the citation is reasonably close, with an exception for certain situations with DYK (which I don't intend to take this to DYK, and a DYK hook certainly wouldn't involve him dying of TB). - I find that the sources are a bit confused about the nature of his injury in March 1862. Was it a serious wound or not? Perhaps a clarification note as you did for the date of birth would help.
- citation 2: he sustained a serious wound to his arm and could no longer command
- Welsh, Jack D. (1995): Greer was slightly wounded at Elkhorn in March 1862, yet remained on the field. In his report on the battle, he did not mention that he had been wounded.
- Wooster does not mention this wound. Bailey says he was "slightly wounded". Warner uses the "slightly wounded" phrasing as well amd "could no longer command" doesn't seem accurate given his later roles at Pea Ridge. I think it's safe to say that citation 2 is just wrong on this point. Hog Farm Talk 01:58, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
