Elon Musk is in the Epstein files.

In January 2026, Musk and along with many others were named in the Epstein Files. Yehoshua667 (talk) 13:49, 31 January 2026 (UTC)

Then let's see some suggested text? Slatersteven (talk) 15:25, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
It should be included on this page. Yehoshua667 (talk) 18:22, 31 January 2026 (UTC)

I don't want to get in a continued edit war (in the recent history) with Pennine_rambler, but I'll bring it here for your views. In my opinion, I made this more detailed and neutral point of view version of the Epstein relationship (below, proper refs in the edit history). They also keep putting their version under the "Relationships and Children" subheading and deleting other full sections like his Wealth and Musk Foundation subheaders.

>In a January 2026 U.S. Department of Justice update on the Epstein files, it showed that Musk was in email contact with financer and child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein between 2012 and 2013, exchanging 16 emails. The emails between Musk and Epstein showed him at least twice expressing interest of visiting Little Saint James island, but it never came into fruition, with Epstein himself cancelling confirmed plans on one occasion.[1][2] In 2014 at an Oscar party, Musk and Ghislaine Maxwell were seen in a photo together, but no evidence showed that they conversed with each other, with Musk saying it was a "photobomb."[3] Musk has previously denied involvement with Epstein and called him a "creep" and claimed that Epstein “tried repeatedly to get me to visit his island” but that he had declined to do so.[1] Vocal on the subject, Musk has accused the Trump administration of covering up files to protect numerous powerful people, including Donald Trump himself.[4][5] During the highly publicized 2025 Trump–Musk feud when Musk was a Presidential Senior Advisor, Musk in a now-deleted tweet namedropped Trump of being on the files as the reason why they were not released yet to the public.[6][4]

I definitely don't think their email-only conversations of 1 year deserves a full subheader section like Trump, Clinton, and Prince Andrew's yet and keep it under "Personal life" for now if until other major DOJ articles come out, but still should be at least mentioned for sure. (talk) 18:22, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Could someone fix this sentence? "Emails centered on Musk being specifically invited to Epstein's island, despite Epsteins repeated and continual invites he had not gone." I can't figure out what it's supposed to mean. ―Panamitsu (talk) 22:47, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Possible image change

Elon Musk in 2025. Main image (left), slight crops (right).

I am proposing that the infobox image is changed to this, or a slight crop of it, for three main reasons:

  • It is of higher quality than the current image
  • People are not clearly visible in the background, unlike the current image
  • It is from the same event as the current image, so age is not a concern.

TheSilksongPikmin (talk | contribs) 10:26, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

Why are the shades different? Slatersteven (talk) 14:51, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
What do you mean by this? Shades between the crops? They're the same. Shades between current image and proposed images? They are all from the same 2025 event, but the specific location that Musk was photographed in was slightly different between the two, same for the time. Form of Autism

Edit suggestion for Personal Life section:

"While hosting Saturday Night Live in 2021, Musk stated that he has Asperger syndrome (an outdated term for a mild strain of autism spectrum disorder)."

Please change the word "strain" to "form." In the medical field, the word "strain" is used to describe a contagious microorganism. Autism is not caused by germs, nor is it contagious. Medically speaking, autism is a spectrum disorder and presents in varying degrees (forms) of severity, not in strains.

Also, it would be more precise to say "a now-outdated term" rather than imply the term was already outdated at whatever time he was diagnosed. The Aspergers designation wasn't fully changed until 2022.

Supporting Wikipedia citations:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strain_(biology)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome

Introductory paragraph: "It ceased to be a distinct diagnosis when it was merged into autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the DSM-5 (2013) and ICD-11 (2022)."

Classification section: "The extent of the overlap between Asperger syndrome and other forms of autism, particularly what was sometimes called high-functioning autism is unclear."

(Incidentally, in the second quote from the Aspergers article, there should be a comma between "high-functioning autism" and "is unclear." Since that article also is locked, I can't fix it myself.)

Has he been diagnosed? Slatersteven (talk) 17:12, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
I don't think so. Panamitsu 20:05, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
Are we requiring confirmation from his medical doctor? TheEnglishTeacher (talk) 20:07, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
As it's a medical condition, yes. Slatersteven (talk) 20:22, 9 March 2026 (UTC)
If this information is coming (only) from Musk himself, then I suggest to change 'stated' to 'claimed'. Lklundin (talk) 15:26, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
I've reverted this edit because of MOS:CLAIM and suggested that we write that he's never been formally diagnosed if he hasn't. That seems like a much more neutral wording to me. Panamitsu 19:54, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
Ok just did this edit. Panamitsu 00:53, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

Why was the short description removed?

It seems to have been that way for a few days as well. UltraCobson (talk) 11:01, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

Better source for autism self diagnosis?

The statement "although he has never been formally diagnosed." (with Asperger's) is currently cited to a Washington Post story that doesn't state anything of the sort, and the Isaacson bio, which has his mom saying he was never diagnosed as a child, but that he now says he has autism and she believes him. Can we find better sources supporting self-diagnosis or tweak the wording to better line up with the sources? There's also an event of WP:DATED to consider with such absolute statements. Whonting (talk) 05:10, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

Well are there any sources that dispute the claim it was self-diagnosis? Slatersteven (talk) 11:29, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
I don't believe so, but my question is if there are any making the claim it was a self-diagnosis. Whonting (talk) 11:36, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Do we? Slatersteven (talk) 11:52, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Do we have any making the claim it was a self-diagnosis? I don't know. Do we currently claim it was a self-diagnosis? Yes, see the quote above: "he has never been formally diagnosed". Whonting (talk) 11:55, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
If we do not have a soruce saying he was formally diagnosed, then how was he diagnosed? Slatersteven (talk) 14:13, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
The sources are quite circumspect, I would infer from their silence and Elon's that it is a self-diagnosis, but I am not bound by verifiability's requirement that sources Wikipedia:Directly supports it being a self-diagnosis. If we can't locate a source, best to remove the claim and say that he identifies as having Asperger's, that he says he came to the conclusion later in life, and that he was not diagnosed as a kid which can all be directly supported. Whonting (talk) 14:20, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Or we totally remove it as it has never been formally diagnosed. Slatersteven (talk) 14:39, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
I don't think we should be removing on the basis of it not being formally diagnosed if we don't have a source saying he has not been formally diagnosed. As a sample of how the sources are treating it, the WaPo piece currently cited is headlined "Elon Musk reveals he has Asperger's syndrome during SNL monologue". Whonting (talk) 14:42, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Then its undiagnosed. Slatersteven (talk) 14:52, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
We may be going in circles. I'll see if someone else weighs in, else I may drop a line at 3O if it's alright with you. Whonting (talk) 14:53, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
Becasue you have not convinced me this is a problem, and wp:bludgeon may be now coming into it, so it's time for others to chip in. Slatersteven (talk) 15:00, 2 May 2026 (UTC)

lens RESPONSE TO THIRD OPINION REQUEST

Anything further to add, @Slatersteven or @Whonting?   MWFwiki (talk) 19:52, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
On second thought, @Slatersteven and @Whonting, upon review, barring something exceptional, I think I can render an opinion. Wikipedia isn't a medical journal nor Musk's doctor nor are we an arbiter of diagnoses. We report what the secondary sources say. If there is a secondary source which states "he is self-diagnosed", then we can use that. Otherwise, we go with what we have. As a compromise, might I suggest simply directly-attributing the claim? "In 2021, after appearing on Saturday Night Live, Musk claimed to have Asperger's." Or something along those lines. Does anyone know what Isaacson in Elon Musk had to say? They're cited, as well. So, long story short, WP:VNT; and I mostly agree with Whonting's contentions. Also, just as an outsider; I'd hardly consider their responses to you, @Slatersteven, to be "bludgeoning". AGF. Asking if you agree to start the 3O process is, again, hardly bludgeoning and I suspect you know this.   MWFwiki (talk) 20:15, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Thanks @MWFwiki. You can see my summary of the Isaacson source at the opening of this section: "which has his mom saying he was never diagnosed as a child, but that he now says he has autism and she believes him." I was at the library when I read this, and can head back if we need an exact quote. I don't mind the attribution, although I would tweak it to "In 2021, while appearing on Saturday Night Live, Musk stated he had Asperger's." to clarify the timing and align with MOS:CLAIM. Whonting (talk) 00:02, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
Yeah, that wording is great. No, I don't need an exact quote, if it roughly says that then it's essentially just confirming the article, though we could use that separately. "[...];[Washington Post source] Musk's mother has stated that while he was not 'diagnosed as a child,' she 'believes' Musk's assertion that he has Asperger's.[Isaacson source]" But otherwise, the proposed wording is fine.   MWFwiki (talk) 00:18, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
I have now removed the claim that he is self-diagnosed. I didn't include the content on his mother believing his identification, which I'm not too fussed about, anyone should feel free to include or exclude. Whonting (talk) 02:39, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Infobox portrait

The current crop of the infobox portrait is not quite bound to any standard aspect ratio such as 3:4, 4:5 or 5:7. It also doesn't follow the rule of thirds, meaning Musk's eyes aren't on the top horizontal line when dividing the image into thirds vertically. I made an alternative crop that satisfies these general preferences. Sorry to be petty. Nutella lover[ chatsupervise ] 19:44, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

Move birth place and nationality up back up to the opening lead?

When I clicked on this article, I noticed Musk's nationality wasn't in the opening paragraph, when I figured this was common practice on Wikipedia per MOS:BIRTHPLACE? I want to reach a consensus first from other editors before making a change, after the invisible comment in the space where it should be placed says the original consensus was to move it below. I don't know what makes Musk's exempt from this unlike other BLP's like Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates. ConeKota (talk) 17:26, 25 May 2026 (UTC)

Do they have more than one? Slatersteven (talk) 17:27, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
See Talk:Elon Musk/FAQ#Q3 and WP:NATIONALITY where Musk is stated as an example. Basically, there is consensus to emit his nationality entirely because of how complex it is. Nutella lover[ chatsupervise ] 20:00, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

Trillionaire

With the SpaceX IPO on Friday, Elon Musk is projected to be the first person to cross $1 trillion.[1] This milestone should be mentioned on this article, preferably somewhere in the lead section. GN22 (talk) 04:30, 10 June 2026 (UTC)

Differing values

Here it says he is worth 1.3T however, on the Wealth of Elon Musk, it says he is worth 1.1 trillion, could there be more collaboration between them so all of wiki says the same thing? (no critique)
