I enjoyed reading about a British-born pilot flying on behalf of New Zealand in WWII. The article is in very good shape and ready to be GA. I only have a question (which I answered later myself). This is one of the few instances of quickpass.

Various

  • No edit wars
  • Figures look ok with appropriate justification and captions
  • No copyright violations detected, Earwig's Copyvio Detector gave at most 16%
  • Focused and broad enough

Prose

  • I made a number of copyedits, mostly commas and minor rewriting (). Feel free to undo/change.

Sources

Spot check: 4, 5, 11 (epub version), 15, 19, 23

  • I changed the Focke-Wulf 190 to Focke-Wulf Fw 190 so that it is easier to the reader to see the association with the later used term Fw 190. If you disagree you may want to change it to "Focke-Wulf 190 (Fw 190)". Anyhow this is a cosmetic change that does not affect the overall review.

Question

  • Does DFC correspond to Distinguished Flying Cross (United Kingdom)? If so should it not be explicitly stated?
    • You provide: Murphy was appointed an Officer in the Order of the British Empire in the 1970 New Year Honours.
    • The source provides Francis MURPHY, D.F.C., Executive Director (Sales), Hawker Siddeley Aviation Ltd. For services to Export.
  • Ok, I think I found the source of confusion. At page 10 it provides the info, i.e., O.B.E. at the title. I was only looking at page 12. I think this should be included in the citation. I added to conclude the review.

Final comments

This was a very well written article. Congratulations in bringing a biography of a WWII pilot to GA family! Well done! A.Cython(talk) 03:15, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
