Schedule of General Hospital
The article wrongfully says that General Hospital has two network timeslots: 2:00pm (ET) and 3:00 pm (ET). According to the ABC schedule grid on the link below, the sole network timeslot for GH is 2:00pm (ET) and there is no mention at all of the 3:00pm (ET) timeslot
While some local stations have moved the show back to 3:00pm (ET) last September, this timeslot is no longer the network's schedule for the show and hasn't been since September 2012.
The reality is that pretty much all daytime shows (eg:The Chew, The Talk, Y&R, B&B, etc) have some markets where they air at different slots than their official network ones. The soap opera press has made a huge fanfare about a few ABC stations that have decided to move GH back to 3:00pm after Katie was canceled and this has probably mislead some people to think that 3:00 (ET) is once again a network timeslot for GH. It isn't. Some stations simply chose to air GH at 3:00pm(ET) instead of 2:00pm (ET) just like some CBS stations choose to air The Talk at 3:00pm(ET) instead of 2:00pm (ET)
The only daytime show that actually has two network feeds is "Let's Make a Deal". In fact, LMAD is counted twice in the Nielsen ratings because of this. This is not the case with GH which, like all of the other daytime shows except LMAD, only has one network feed and is only counted once in the Nielsen ratings. Basically, ABC provides the network feed for GH at 2:00 (ET) and some stations choose to rebroadcast it at a later time (such as 3:00pm (ET) for example).
User:Kiraroshi1976 insists that 3:00 pm (ET) is network timeslot for GH. But not one of the sources he/she provided supports his/her position. Sources #25 is now expired and discusses about unreleated topics. Source #26 is from a fan site which that in itself makes it unreliable. But even there, source #26 only mentions that the show has moved to 3:00 pm (ET) in some markets, not that it is actually the show's network timeslot. Source #27 is a valid source. But like source #26, source #27 only mentions that the show has moved back to 3:00 pm (ET), not that this timeslot is a schedule as a whole.
So as you can, not one of Kiraroshi1976's three sources supports his/her position whereas the ABC's official website supports the fact that 2:00 pm (ET) is the sole network timeslot for GH. Since the schedule grid should only take into consideration network timeslots (and not individual local timeslots), I strongly believe that the schedule grid should solely mention 2:00 (ET) as the schedule since September 12, 2012 BUT with a small note below that some local stations have chose to move the show back at 3:00 (ET) in September 2014. Basically how the section was prior to Kiraroshi1976's edit at 06:51, 2 April 2015 is how it should be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.22.176.13 (talk)
- I have provided sources for this. General Hospital Changing Time Slots., MONDAY: General Hospital Is On The Move With Its Timeslot Change In 8 Major Markets!, and ‘General Hospital’ Time Slot Switch: The Affected Stations Fall Afternoon Lineups are the sources. I always provide sources. The one source was changed so I have to find other sources. Yes, the ABC site states 2 PM. I have stated the sources for the time slot change for several markets. This page is supposed to be accurate. By providing those sources and the time slot for those cities maintains the accuracy of the page. Please refrain from threatening me to talk on my talkpage. Thank you. --Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 15:09, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- ABC's official time slot for General Hospital is in fact at the two o'clock time slot during their daytime programming schedules for the majority of its television markets (still airs at two o'clock here). However, as pointed out by Kiraroshi1976, eight different markets decided to put the series back to its three o'clock time slot following the cancellation of Katie, due to ratings being better received in that time slot. Soap Opera Digest also confirmed this decision and even confirmed which markets would revert back to the three o'clock airtime. The "Schedule" section should likely be re-formatted to better suit a clearer representation of air times and markets per the Television WikiProject. livelikemusic my talk page! 16:17, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- I re-edited the information to better affect ABC's true intentions with the time slot, while noting the change in the eight markets mentioned, to [hopefully] appease both sides of the argument. livelikemusic my talk page! 16:38, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- You took the words out of my mouth Livelikemusic and couldn't have said it better. I never was opposed to a small note below the grid indicating the change of timeslot in some markets in 2014. After all, if the soap opera press (and a few local news) made a huge fanfare about it, it probably is notable enough to be part of Wikipedia. I was simply opposed that this 3:00pm schedule appears on the grid itself because it is a local timeslot, not a timework network like 2:00pm. GH's situation is not the same as CBS's Let's Make a Deal. LMAD has two networks feeds, GH does not. Anyway, thanks for looking into this and take care. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.22.176.13 (talk) 03:51, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- I was never opposed to the way it looks now. I was opposed to not mentioning the facts of those cities with the timeslot change for them for it to be accurate. --Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 06:10, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
