Talk:Gideon Fisher

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Proposed sourced updates to article

I am assisting Dr. Gideon Fisher and Gideon Fisher & Co. and therefore have a disclosed conflict of interest. I am not requesting permission to edit the article directly. I would appreciate review by an independent editor.

Requested change 1: add a current international dispute-resolution paragraph

Please add the following sentence in an appropriate section:

In 2026, the Government of Israel designated Fisher to serve on the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) Panel of Conciliators. His six-year term runs from 20 April 2026 to 20 April 2032.

Requested change 2: add a concise selected-publications paragraph

Please add:

Fisher's publications include Arbitration in the Business World (2016), Uncovering a Middle Path in Arbitration (2023), co-authored with Michal Alberstein, and The Arbitration Revolution: In the Light of International Commercial Arbitration (2024).

Reason for the request

The existing article is outdated and relies heavily on older or connected sources. These limited additions are intended to add current, verifiable information without promotional language. I have deliberately omitted facts for which only private certificates, correspondence, social-media material or connected sources are presently available.

Thank you for reviewing the request. Moti Franko (talk) 11:49, 21 July 2026 (UTC)

✅  Edit request partially implemented

  1. Green tickY The information concerning ICSID was added, because that organization is independently notable in Wikipedia.
  2. Red XN None of the selected publications could be added, despite numerous searches on WorldCat, Amazon, AbeBooks and even ProQuest, nothing about these publications could be found. If these get ISBNs in the future, please let me know on my talk page and/or this talk page with an {{EditCOI}} template and I will add them to the article.
  3. Additional cleanup performed: I removed the list of random jobs which allows me to remove the {{like resume}} maintenance template. If these are to be added again in the future, it would be best if they were accompanied by references from independent WP:SECONDARY sources. Normally we would accept a reference from the company or entity which serves as the subject's employer, however, the article already contains a {{third-party}} maintenance template, so we don't want to do anything which would only serve to increase the article's sourcing dysfunction. The article then became top-heavy, so I shifted much from the lead section to the main body of text. Finally, {{use mdy dates}} was added to standardize the dating in the article.

COI edit request – additional independent sourcing and professional activity

Conflict of interest disclosure: I have a professional relationship with Dr. Gideon Fisher.

I am therefore not making direct edits to the article and am submitting this request for review by an independent editor in accordance with Wikipedia’s conflict-of-interest guidance.

Following the previous partially implemented edit request, I would like to propose a limited additional update supported by publicly available sources.

Proposed addition

After the paragraph concerning Fisher’s 2026 designation to the ICSID Panel of Conciliators, I suggest adding the following:

Fisher has also been active in the field of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He is identified by the Conflict Resolution Center Israel as an FCIArb and co-chair of the Arbitration and Mediation Committee of the Israel Bar Association. In 2023, he co-authored with Michal Alberstein the article “Uncovering a Middle Path in Arbitration,” published in The International Lawyer by the American Bar Association. His work on arbitration has also appeared among the professional background materials submitted to the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee of the Knesset in connection with proposed arbitration legislation.

The purpose of this request is to strengthen the article with publicly accessible sources and a concise description of Fisher’s professional activity, rather than to add promotional or résumé-style material.

I would appreciate an independent editor’s review of the proposed wording and sources. I am of course happy for the wording to be shortened or adjusted as appropriate under Wikipedia’s editorial standards.
