Legacy

This is probably relevant to the "Legacy" section

The domain holder for Goatse.cx sold access to an email forwarding service for a number of years - about 2008 to 2018. I used my username@goatse.cx email address for most of that period (cost about 5GBP) primarily for logging onto and receiving messages from Coursera, the Open University, and various other educational websites.

My reasoning was that an educational establishment whose IT security was stupid enough to simply use a "bad words list" approach deserved the hassle that they were going to get if they objected to my email address. Sadly, nobody had a problem with it. I'd also give it as an email address to people I really didn't want to keep in contact with.

Maybe not the best of reasons for choosing an email service. But it suited me.

The last I heard of the domain ,they were selling some sort of crypto-trash. O tempora o mores! AKarley (talk) 13:36, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
