The need for what may seem like extra info
relatively short-
Since the IBM 1800 and 1130 were in many ways so similar, and the 1130 used the 1403 while, according to info from that half-a-century ago era, the 1800 used the 1443, and the model numbers look so similar -- 1403, 1443 -- context is needed. Pi314m (talk) 09:17, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
- The most common printer used with the 1130 was the IBM 1133, which was designed for relatively low cost by reusing mechanisms from old IBM 407 accounting machines, but it consumed a lot of processing resources when printing. That was likely undesirable in a process control system. The 1403 was a high speed printer and might be needed when an 1130 was used as a remote peripheral attached to a large machine, but its speed and cost might not be needed for process control. The medium speed 1443 could have been a sensible compromise for the 1800.--agr (talk) 16:44, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

Removing "Technology" section
The "Technology" section describes the tabulator-style typebar printing, with one vertical typebar per column. The 1443 uses a single horizontal typebar, which is completely different (see ). There isn't anything to salvage in the Technology section, so I'm removing it. KenShirriff (talk) 01:31, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
