We need to put an updated picture of Invermere on here. The one is currently on the site is quite outdated. It doesn't show the town as of 2007/8. By the airport (lower right corner) is actually Invermere Home Hardware and a few other stores, etc... Thanks! I live in the town so I know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.232.223.94 (talk) 21:32, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Athalmer, British Columbia Althalmer, British ColumbiaAlthalmer, British Columbia redirects

Hello, the above latter redirects here, yet there is no mention of Althalmer (or Athalmer) in the article itself. What is the relationship between A(l)thalmer and Invermere? Was it a separate unincorporated community that was eventually annexed by the District Municipality of Invermere? @Rich Farmbrough: as the original redirector, any knowledge to share? Hwy43 (talk) 09:23, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

  • Hmmm? All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 15:57, 3 April 2019 (UTC).
  • Weird! I thought I created the redirect originally yet I saw this.... Different spelling at play. I found this after my original message (which I couldn't find six years ago). Trying to understand when it was absorbed by Invermere... Hwy43 (talk) 02:34, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

Curling section: replace [citation needed] claim with reliable sources / hard numbers

Hello! I’d like to request an improvement to the Curling section of this article.

The article currently states:

“Invermere hosts the biggest outdoor bonspiel in Canada.[citation needed]”

This is currently unsourced and appears to be an absolute superlative, so I suggest either removing it or rewording it to a verifiable, neutral statement supported by reliable sources.

Suggested replacement wording (verifiable + neutral)

Invermere hosts the annual Bonspiel on the Lake, an outdoor curling bonspiel held on Lake Windermere at Kinsmen Beach. Local newspaper coverage reports 64 teams competing on eight sheets of ice (e.g., 2017).

Source: Columbia Valley Pioneer (Jan 13, 2017).

https://www.columbiavalleypioneer.com/bonspiel-on-the-lake-ready-to-rock/ curlfairbanks.org

Optionally (to reflect recent format):

In 2025, local coverage reported 80 teams participating across the weekend (64 in the main bonspiel plus 16 in a separate “Hunger Games” feeder bonspiel).

Source: Columbia Valley Pioneer (Jan 15, 2025).

https://www.columbiavalleypioneer.com/bonspiel-on-the-lake-returns-to-rock-the-bay/ Wikipedia

Additional independent coverage (team counts + longevity):

  • e-KNOW (Jan 18, 2026) reports “64 curling teams” at the 41st annual event (Jan 16–18, 2026). https://www.e-know.ca/regions/columbia-valley/invermere/41st-annual-bonspiel-on-the-lake-hurried-hard/ Wikipedia

If the “biggest in Canada” claim is retained, it should be rewritten as attributed language (e.g., “has been described as…”) and sourced; otherwise the safer approach is to focus on the specific verifiable scale (64 teams / eight sheets) and community significance.
