1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct. 1. There are missing or duplicate words in sentences.
  • first created for novel by L. J. Smith > first created for a novel by L. J. Smith
  • "the ultimate Big Bad," intended to add depth > "the ultimate Big Bad," and intended to use him to add depth
  • first Original Hybrid a vampire with werewolf > first Original Hybrid and a vampire with werewolf
  • was captured captured by > was captured by
  • affair with a man Ansel > affair with a man named Ansel
  • Freya was absent taken by Esther’s sister > Freya was absent, having been taken by Esther’s sister
  • was a sweeter, more romantic aspect with her, > was a sweeter, more romantic person with her,

2. There are unnecessary spaces before commas and brackets.

  • The character of Klaus , first created for
  • slept also , but later she escaped Klaus
  • break ups , wanted revenge
  • (Ian Somerhalder )

3. There is improper use of punctuation.

  • The Struggle as the hybrid > The Struggle, as the hybrid
  • his siblings Elijah, Rebekah > his siblings, Elijah, Rebekah
  • mother, Esther a witch > mother, Esther, a witch
  • half-siblings, fathered by Mikael, only > half-siblings fathered by Mikael, only
  • his eldest sister Freya was absent > his eldest sister, Freya, was absent
  • encouragement though Mikael often > encouragement, though Mikael often
  • younger brother Henrik died after > younger brother, Henrik, died after
  • siblings especially Rebekah and Elijah—held > siblings, especially Rebekah and Elijah, held
  • werewolf, a vampire and a Petrova > werewolf, a vampire, and a Petrova
  • have to be sacrificed, has to take place > have to be sacrificed has to take place
  • stepfather Mikael > stepfather, Mikael
  • series finale of "The Vampire Diaries" > series finale of The Vampire Diaries
  • constant abuse from Mikaelwhom > constant abuse from Mikael, whom
  • affair with a werewolf shaped > affair with a werewolf, shaped
  • stepfather, Mikael introduced > stepfather, Mikael, introduced
  • fearsome Original is depicted > fearsome Original, is depicted
  • Gerard after taking the > Gerard, after taking the
  • Klaus’s dual nature both charming and terrifying securing > Klaus’s dual nature, both charming and terrifying, securing
  • accolades for his portrayal of Klaus, > accolades for his portrayal of Klaus.
  • TV Guide Award and a People's Choice Award. > TV Guide Award, and a People's Choice Award.
  • seemingly killed by Alaric Saltzman.. > seemingly killed by Alaric Saltzman.

4. There are misspelled words.

  • as the hybrid of a > is the hybrid of a
  • witch originaly from > witch originally from
  • As a young man, Klaus and Elijah > As young men, Klaus and Elijah
  • later un-daggers Elijah > later undaggers Elijah

5. Incorrect words/terminology are consistently used.

  • show creators > executive producers/writers/creators Any one of these words would be better suited.
  • registered a good fan response > registered a positive fan response
  • a core character of The CW's > a core character within The CW's

6. The article is quite repetitive.

  • "first Original Hybrid a vampire with werewolf" The words 'hybrid' and 'vampire with a werewolf' clearly mean the same thing.
  • "he had been intimate and slept also" Being intimate with and sleeping with mean the same thing.

7. Several sentences make little to no sense in their current form.

  • "The character of Klaus , first created for novel by L. J. Smith in 1991 in #Volume II The Struggle as the hybrid of a vampire and a werewolf." It makes little to no sense in its current form. Could possibly edit this to "The character Klaus, first introduced by L. J. Smith in the 1991 novel The Vampire Diaries: The Struggle, was created as a hybrid of a vampire and a werewolf."
  • "Show creators Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec wanted a villain who would top others in complexity and danger, with Plec calling Klaus "the ultimate Big Bad," intended to add depth to vampires' and werewolves' lore within the universe of the series."
  • "Though she chose Elijah, her death later revealed as Elijah’s doing strained Klaus’s relationship with his brother."
  • "Klaus then break ups , wanted revenge on Katerina, causing her to spend centuries running from him."
  • "The first Petrova doppelgänger Klaus found was Katherine Pierce, he is the ex-boyfriend of Katherine Pierce with whom he had been intimate and slept also , but later she escaped Klaus with the help of Elijah with the moonstone and hung herself in order to become a vampire so that she would be useless for the ritual"
  • This is by no means an exhaustive list. Quite frankly, a majority of this article needs to be rewritten.

8. "Joseph Morgan. Hall has received many accolades for his portrayal of Klaus," Who is Hall?

9. The tense frequently fluctuates between present and past. Given the page is about a fictional character, it should ideally use present tense throughout.

10. The article uses "Always and Forever" and "always and forever". One format needs to be used throughout for consistency.

1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation. 1. There are unnecessary or poorly formatted pipelinks.

2. Several cases of MOS:Overlink, names like Alaric Saltzman and New Orleans are linked multiple times within the same level 2 heading.

3. There are multiple MOS:WTW used. For example, legendary, acclaim, iconic, notable, etc.

2. Verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline. 1. Several references link to 404 pages or the like.
  • "Joseph Morgan Talks THE ORIGINALS, Klaus' Evolution, Why He Loves the Character So Much, and More" links to a 404 page.
  • "The Vampire Diaries Boss on Klaus' Arrival: 'He's a Force to Be Reckoned With'"
  • "Niklaus Mikaelson (is the Vampire Diaries' and The Originals' tragic super villain a good vampire character?) – Sanguinem Emere"
  • "The 10 Best Villains In The Vampire Diaries, Ranked"
  • "The Originals: TV Review" by The Hollywood Reporter
  • "The Vampire Diaries: The 10 Best Villains, Ranked"
  • "'Vampire Diaries' casts Klaus: How should Joseph Morgan play the villain? (Like a young James Spader?)"
  • This is not an exhaustive list.

2. Some citations are cited twice on the References list.

  • "The Originals: TV Review" by The Hollywood Reporter (refs 18 and 93)
  • "The 10 Best Villains In The Vampire Diaries, Ranked" (refs 17 and 91)
  • "Every Mikaelson Family Member in 'The Vampire Diaries,' Ranked" (refs 13 and 37)
  • This is not an exhaustive list.

3. There are unnecessary gaps between punctuation and references.

  • Refer to citations 17 and 54.

4. Most of the sources do not meet the WP:RS threshold.

2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose).
  • Plec attributed the spin-off's existence to Morgan's performance and fan support, stating, "without Klaus, there would be no Originals."
  • Plec also said that she was impressed with Morgan's ability to display different sides of a character.
  • Joseph Morgan’s portrayal of Klaus Mikaelson has received widespread acclaim for its charismatic intensity, emotional nuance, and complexity.
  • This is not an exhaustive list.
2c. it contains no original research. Not reviewed due to the quick fail.
2d. it contains no copyright violations or plagiarism. Not reviewed due to the quick fail.
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic. Not reviewed due to the quick fail.
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style). Not reviewed due to the quick fail.
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each. In its current form, the article reads as incredibly informal. It needs to be rewritten in an encyclopaedic manner. Not reviewed in further detail due to the quick fail.
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute. Seems to be.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content. The source cited for the image in the infobox is incorrect. This image does not exist on that page.
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions. Appears to be.
7. Overall assessment. Quick failing this under Criteria 1, as it is a long way from meeting the well-written good article criterion. Having read over the entire article, I have provided some feedback for the remaining criteria, but this is not extensive.

I will also be marking the article with a copy edit tag. Overall, this article needs to be seriously rewritten and revamped before resubmission.

Additional Comments

1. Please read through Template:Infobox character and appropriately correct the infobox on this page.

  • Use the based on template. Should only mention Klaus Mikaelson under character and L.J. Smith under author. Remove "In part on character" and "from The Vampire Diaries".
  • Cite sources for nickname/aliases. For example, I can't find anything online to corroborate "The King".
  • Remove Caroline Forbes and Hayley Marshall from Spouse, neither of them were ever married to Klaus.
  • Grace O'Connell-Mikaelson is not his daughter, this appears to be fanfiction?
  • Use a plainlist when refering to multiples instead of a linebreak or /. For example in, "Mystic Falls, Virginia / New Orleans, Louisiana".
  • Nationality does not need to be stated given that it is unknown.
  • Remove the abilities label. It is completely unnecessary.
