About the notability of this biography
The unfair treatment of Le Van Muoi occurred amid the 2019-2020 Hong Kong protests. The disagreement and general social background gave the case so much more attention than would otherwise, especially when it is about police violence.
The general delay to his "justice" is also because of the police brutality and on-going protests. Even after his death was ruled a suicide, there was still a number of doubts not cleared at the time, some regarding the responsibilities of Correctional Services Department. A great number of crimes the police officers clearly committed, they also ultimately escaped the punishment (the frame-job and clear violence). They only served for obstructing justice. The other victim of the incident was ruled "untrustworthy" by the court, also favoring the police.
Sources for some of the above would be tough to find. Labratscientist (talk) 09:34, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
- This was also some of the only incidents of police violence that went on court during the protests. Most was simply dismissed. Labratscientist (talk) 09:46, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
