Van Gerpen grew up as a Presbyterianist with 7 siblings across Avon.
1cnewspapers.com Orange tickYIf this is based on the "preceded in death" list of an obituary, I'm unsure whether we should use that as a definitive and comprehensive list of her siblings.
The two engaged in farming at their ranch in Avon.
3csdlegislature.gov Red XNA minor instance of WP:CLOP, but it looks like the article only uses the phrase "engaged in farming" because that's how the source says it.
Van Gerpen gave her first speech in the House on February 22, 1984, during a debate on Janklow's plan, advocating against it. Although the House voted against the plan in a 31–35 vote, 10 members switched their votes, allowing the plan to be discussed again in the House.

  • I found no glaring issues with the prose. I looked through some archived records and was unable to find any indication that Van Gerpen did anything else of note while in the legislature.
  • A couple minor notes about the sources in the table above.
    • First one was because I accidentally removed a source while editing that I've gone ahead and added back now. Addressed #3c.  RONIN  TALK  01:28, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Is there any reason why the infobox doesn't have a successor listed? Not a major issue, but it would be nice.
    • Added successors. South Dakota's House has multi-member districts so I went ahead and added both.  RONIN  TALK  01:28, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
  • My only other suggestion is to maybe mention that her son Bill Van Gerpen became a member of the legislature.
