I will review this as part of GARC#93.A.Cython(talk) 15:51, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

I enjoyed reading about the development of one the main antagonists in the Horizon games, the machines. Overall the article is well written and sourced. I have some minor comments, see below. A.Cython(talk) 02:22, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

@A.Cython: I think I have addressed all of your comments. Thanks for the review! I left some comments below to clarify some things, but let me know if any of your comments weren't addressed enough or if you have any other concerns. -- ZooBlazer 03:15, 11 June 2026 (UTC)

Prose & MoS

  • The lead is a bit large with about 450+ words. Per MOS:LEADLENGTH the size of the lead should not be much more than 400 words. A little trimming would help.
Trimmed it down a bit. Shows as 399 words for me now. -- ZooBlazer
  • The initial concept for the machines in Horizon Zero Dawn (2017) drew heavily from the militaristic and industrial aesthetic of Guerrilla Games' previous franchise, Killzone. However, the development team abandoned this direction after realising during testing that fighting these models made players feel more like traditional soldiers than tribal hunters I found this confusing since I had no idea about the Killzone game, so the "militaristic and industrial aesthetic" is poorly defined. Consider rewriting.
  • Unfortunately, I have not played the game myself, and I suspect many readers who are interested in the article may not be familiar with all of the game's terminology and jargon. I think you need to explain all the different classifications. For example, I have little understanding of what Horus units or Chariot line really are. So having a brief summary of all classifications might help. Similar to individual machines, e.g., Thunderjaw, Stormbird, and Fireclaw. A brief description would help.
I tried to make these clearer. Let me know how it looks now. -- ZooBlazer
  • I think it would be more natural to have the "Background" section right after the lead.
I was working on the article around the time Leon S. Kennedy was at FAC and it has Concept first, so that is why it is that way. -- ZooBlazer

  • Citation 53 does not support: Wesley LeBlanc from Game Informer observed that the machines were highly aggressive, warning that the combat was very challenging and the player could be defeated quickly.
I ended up just removing the sentence and ref -- ZooBlazer
  • Why the "Background" section does not have any citations? Does this falls under the WP:PLOTCITE?
Yeah it is essentially the plot info. Background was used on a fellow machines article, Machines (Nier: Automata) so that is what I went with. -- ZooBlazer

Final comments

Thank you for making the changes, I believe it read better now. So, congratulations to ZooBlazer for bringing the machines into the GA family! Well done! A.Cython(talk) 20:00, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
