Talk:Memory swapping
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ambiguous
This should be a DAB page or a navigation page. The the term memory swapping could refer to
- Swapping jobs running in a common address space, as in the Time Sharing Option (TSO) of OS/360 and OS/VS2 SVS, or jobs running with block relocation, as in CDC 6600, GE 635, UNIVAC 1108
- Swapping address spaces, as in MVS
- Swapping pages in a system with paging, as in OS/VS, MULTICS
- Swapping segments in a system with segmentation, as in Burroughs MCP
There are probably other cases that I've overlooked.
An alternative, which I like less, is to add a {{redirect|swapping#Science and technology}} hatnote to Memory paging -- Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk) 19:19, 30 September 2025 (UTC) -- Revised 20:42, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
