Hello again Simon. I'm aiming to review this ASAP. I note that you have one more jumping spider article waiting, I'll take a look at that too if time is permitting. AxonsArachnida (talk) 03:44, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

@Simongraham That's all the comments I can think of. Just ping me when you're done and I'll look it over again. AxonsArachnida (talk) 07:53, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
@AxonsArachnida: Thank you for another thorough review. I believe all the amendments have been made. simongraham (talk) 07:13, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Taxonomy and etymology

  • It would be good to mention where at least the holotype specimen is stored.
    • Added.

Description

  • "maxilae" is misspelt.
    • Amended.
  • "There are also differences between examples found different areas" -> "There are also differences between examples found in different areas"
    • Amended.
  • " Its mouthparts, including its chelicerae and labium, are light brown apart from its maxilae, which are orange" and "The part of the underside of its front section known as its sternum is also orange" the description says both the sternum and maxillae are brownish, not orange.
    • Amended.

Behaviour

  • "Menemerus spiders undertake complex displays and dances during courtship" It doesn't say Menemerus at all on this page. I assume this is inferred from "All salticids use visual displays during courtship"? So why specify Menemerus rather than just saying all jumping spiders do this?
    • Amended.

Distribution and habitat

  • "and have been identified as far as Latin America". Latin America is a pretty big place, it might help to be specific ie brazil. It might also be worth mentioning they aren't naturally found there, they've been introduced. Also the refence says this information is on page 3, but it's actually on page 2.
    • Amended.
  • "Menemerus bifurcus is found in South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe." WSC doesn't mention that it's in Zambia.
    • Amended.
  • "The male holotype was found near Kitwe, Zambia, in 1963. Zimbabwean examples have been seen in Bulawayo in 1962 and Harare in 1998. Examples found in South Africa are found in Rust De Winter Nature Reserve in 1972, Pretoria in 1976 and Tshipise in 1979." The reference page number doesn't quite line up here. Do you mean pages 264 and 266?
    • Amended.
  • " Examples that live in the Sengwa Wildlife Research Area in Zimbabwe have been found on the bark of trees of the Combretum genus and trunks of Trichilia trees.". The given reference doesn't mention M. bifurcus at all.
  • The source is "SWRA, in litter in riparian Acacia, 2.XI.2002, 1 Ω, 1 æ (PPRI); bark of Combretum tree, 2.XI.2002, 1 Ω (MNZ); trunk of Trichelia tree, 2.XI.2002, 1 Ω (MNZ)".
  • "The spider also lives in houses and areas of habitation, including the museum in Bulawayo" Ref page doesn't support this again and appears to be off. Pages 256/266 do though.
    • Amended.

References

  • Mostly fine. Some sources could be archived for future-proofing.
    • Added.
  • Capitalization of the article names is a bit inconsistent. Some have most words capitlised ie "Taxonomy and Natural History of a Species Rich Assemblage of Jumping Spiders" whereas others do it the opposite way ie "A revision of the spider genus Menemerus in Africa (Araneae: Salticidae)"
    • Amended to title case.

Misc notes

  • Copyvio is 20.6%, with the highest match being world spider catalog (which is to be expected). No worries there.
  • Both images have suitable copyrights.
  • The only research article missing is "Habitat separation in a species-rich assemblage of jumping spiders (Araneae: Salticidae) in a suburban study site in Zimbabwe". However it's not neccessary since the information in it is already covered by other articles. Otherwise to the best of my knowledge, this page covers everything that is known about the species.
    • Added.
