Name

Under "Name" Maryannu is listed. This is not a name of Mitanni at all (certainly not by the Egyptians, as the article claims), but the term used for chariot warriors. It needs to be removed. As the page is protected, I cannot do this myself. Shedsunefertum17 (talk) 10:58, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Now corrected. Shedsunefertum17 (talk) 20:45, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

Indo

If these influences are considered specifically INDO-Aryan, does it mean that they arrived from India? Or did these languages separate somewhere in the Steppe? In that case when? Either much more than 4000 years ago, or Cemetery H can't have any relation to Indo-Aryans. Or Cemetery H is much younger than 3900 years. --95.24.64.92 (talk) 22:31, 12 September 2023 (UTC)

Minor corrections to English

I intend to correct a few infelicities in the English of this article. In most cases the meaning is quite clear, but I can make no sense of "due to this pottery was a continuity from non-Mitannian previous Old Babylonian period" in the section "Archaeology/Upper Mesopotamia/Northeastern Syria (Jazira Region)". Can anyone help with a re-wording? Another point I need help on: in "Mitanni rulers / Wasashatta", final sentence, the name "Hittle" looks like a typo for "Hittite". Remove "Historical Vedic religion" from religion section. This is not substantiated by the sources listed. Waxwing96 (talk) 03:40, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

This is inconsistent with what is given in the article. It says Indra, Mitra and other vedic Gods were worshipped. I request you to look into it. XK2aXsmasherX (talk) 15:10, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Merging Naharin to here

I don't see any reason for the article Naharin to exist independently. The terminological information there should appear in Mittani#Etymology (under a new sub-heading), and the historical information should appear in Mittani#History. פעמי-עליון (pʿmy-ʿlywn) - talk 12:47, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

  • I initially support[ed] פעמי-עליון's proposal. It is essentially Mitanni. However, from the article's talkpage, the situation seems more complex פעמי-עליון If Naharin is a region or geographical area independent of the state of Mitanni, then maybe Naharin should be retained. Why? Because the neighbouring Hittite state may have a separate name for the Naharin area. Unfortunately, the other two participants in the initial 2007 and 2008 posts have long ago left wikipedia. --Leoboudv (talk) 15:05, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
Realistically Naharin is a stub with only a few things linked to it and based on an out of date (1906) source and the encyclopedia britanica. I'm thinking that folding it into Mitanni wouldn't be a bad idea. Its already mentioned in that article several times. Stubs never get updated, as part of an actual article it might be. That was my view when I merged Karduniaš into Kassites.Ploversegg (talk) 15:15, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
  • I see and now understand user Ploversegg's clear points. You are absolutely right! Naharin has remained a very small stub. I vote to merge Naharin to Mitanni 100 percent. I did not realise this but after checking the article history, I was the person who created the original Naharin article as you see here In most cases, articles that people create are greatly expanded with new information and pictures...but it was not my intention for an article which I created in 2007 to remain a stub still after 18 years. Just merge it ASAP with Mitanni please. Thanks again Ploversegg and פעמי-עליון Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 15:25, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
