Second Punic War
this section is terrible and has nothing to do with mountain warfare, especially at the end where it randomly goes off on how Rome defeated Carthage... which happened in very non mountainous area. On another continent. However, I do know that Hannibal did face opposition during his time in the Alps, not from Romans but from local tribes. I will probably delete this whole paragraph and rewrite it if I can find an adequate source. Or if someone else wants to, be my guest. Binglederry (talk) 02:08, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
Bad form ‼️➡️ posed picture?
Brit commandos in India photo look poorly led.
Far too close together for either safe travel in glaciers or high angle climbing (recreational, rescue, or military--only bad weather (white out) would justify such perilously close climbers. ).
Militarily spreaking they are far too easy a target for machine gun or area effect weapons. A mortar platoon with a pair of .30 cal medium MG would have created scores of widows in <5 minutes. Photo likely posed, as any 2nd Lt would have known better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-18484-41 (talk) 05:54, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
