I would like some input from other editors concerning the infobox parameter documentation, romanized_name: Native name in Latin script. Use only if the company is based in a non-English speaking country and it has no official rendering of its native name in Latin script. If such a rendering exists, assign it to native_name and omit this parameter. My concerns are here in my edit summaries and . kabushikigaisha is in latin script but still not english and should be listed next to its native version, if at all. IMO Nintendō is correct at romanized_name Mlpearc (open channel) 14:36, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Romazined does not mean English, Nintendō is not English and kabushikigaisha is not either. Native name means the native name, while the romanized name parameter simply uses the hepburn-ed version of it. "任天堂株式会社" through hepburn returns "Nintendō kabushikigaisha", wherefore "任天堂株式会社 kabushikigaisha" would be "Nintendō kabushikigaisha kabushikigaisha", what would that be for? I can see where you might be confused, but it clearly says that you should either:

• a) insert the not-Latin name into native_name and the romanized into romanized_name, or
• b) insert the official Latin-script name into native_name and leave romanized_name blank completely.

If "Nintendō kabushikigaisha" was the offical name (also in Latin script) in Japan, it would belong into native_name, but the company has a Japanese name in Japanese script, which is why case a) applies: native_name is 任天堂株式会社 and Hepburn-ized makes it "Nintendō kabushikigaisha" (Note that the official translated name is "Nintendo Co., Ltd.", which sits above the infobox). Case b) would apply to companies in countires using Latin script, where that company has a different local name than internationally/in English, I currently have no example as such companies slowly go extinct and adopt English-language names natively or native names internationally. I'm starting this discussion so we can come to a wp:consensus about what should be included in the infobox. More specifically, I'm talking about the edit that Lordtobi did, which Dissident93 then reverted. Lordtobi then partially reverted them by removing Reggie from the infobox with this edit. I reverted Lordtobi, telling them not to edit war and to come here instead to discuss the change. (That's why I'm starting this section.) Before you say what should and shouldn't be included, please check each editor's edit summary to see what their rationales were. Your ping did not work, but anyway, they belong per the infobox documentation which states that "Up to four key individuals closely associated with the company" are allowed to be put here. Certainly the company president belongs, as does his two right-hand men that serve as co-directors of the company (not even counting Miyamoto's other contributions with the company). Fils-Aime also belongs because he serves as the COO of their American branch, as well as one of the executive offices in NoJ's board of directors, per their official website. The documentation states that "Generally list prominent, current executives within the company holding key positions such as chairman, chief executive officer, president, VP of design, etc., but do not list roles below chief officer level if they are not notable" to validate my case for him remaining. I am always open to other people's opinions, wherefore I guess leaving Fils-Aimé is justified, seeing he is notable, even if not directly affiliated with Nintendo Co., Ltd., but with Nintendo of America, Inc. Still I think un-capitalizing should be done. I was linked by Dissident to this page, where Kimishima is only listed as president and not CEO, should the CEO thingy be removed? Not done I was the one to remove the store from the infobox in the edit mentioned above. I did it for the simple reason that it is not a location of the company itself, but one store that sells licensed merch of it. As regarded by the infobox, "locations" are offices of a company located outside the headquarters, but are a direct part of the company, not a subisidiary, division, or licensee. For example, tinyBuild has its headquarters in Washington State, but another location in the Netherlands (I believe in Utrecht), wherefore it adds up to "2 studios". Hi,

I think it is necessary to change the text in 'Products (2), 2.1', below the Nintendo Switch's picture to something else that reflects the current situation, such as 'Nintendo's new hybrid console, the Switch'. The Switch is no longer upcoming, rather new. The Wii U should also be changed, from 'The Wii U, Nintendo's latest home console, and successor to the Wii' to 'The Wii U, Nintendo's first console which features a tablet-based controller, and successor to the Wii'

It seems the white on red wall logo is only used on a marketing scale rather than their actual corporate identity, likely reflecting the Nintendo Switch's and possibly the My Nintendo logos, which use the same colours. Changing it to newest logo. I presume the only reason the logo is still grey on corporate pages is because web development for said pages have not occurred yet. European webpage has recently changed to red on white, but some pages still remain with the original grey, because development is still in progress. Latest amiibo packaging uses red on white. Well, Nintendo of Japan's homepage and social media accounts seems to have gone with the red logo now, which was the one thing holding this back originally. While it's not completely clear-cut, it appears to me that since Nintendo became a primarily video game company, each logo it's had since has corresponded to the leadership of a certain CEO. Red with while filling for Yamauchi, transparent monochrome for Iwata, and white-on-red for Kimishima. In both the latter cases, each revision was introduced around the time of (and also matches the logo colors of) the first home console release made under that CEO (Wii and Switch, although Iwata was also head for most of the GameCube years). As of October 27, 2017, the article's section on mobile games has not been updated to include the new mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp which was debuted during a Nintendo Direct announcement^[1] on October 25, 2017 and is set to release in the US and UK in November 2017. The game is already available in Australia^[2].

There's a photo of the original HQ for Nintendo in Kyoto which appears to have been taken in the 19th Century. This would make it clearly free by copyright (pre 1923 publishing), and would be great to add, but I'm not yet assured of the date of the photo. --Masem (t) 15:33, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

The Virtual Boy is missing under the Home Consoles section.

It is more or less a home console/table-top console and should be included under Home Consoles in between N64 and Super Nintendo. It is remiss to leave it out of that section and revisionist to pretend Nintendo never released it in between those consoles.

• English speakers understand are far more likely to understand the value of Pounds, Dollars or Euros.

• Few Japanese people speak English and therefore are unlikely to view this page.

• Wikipedia pages for Asian multinational's are usually not in their local currency.

Prior to November 24, 2018 the article was written in American English. It should never have been changed to British English per MOS:STYLERETAIN. After a brief discussion on the Video games WikiProject about making this article as well as Sony Interactive Entertainment potential GAs, I'm starting a discussion here. A few of my concerns are that the lead should be at least three to four paragraphs since the article is over 50,000 characters per WP:LEAD. Also, since there's unsourced material, is it possible to put a "references to use" section in the talk page?

The goal is to take this article up to GA and eventually FA status for a potential TFA post on September 23, 2019 in time for the company's 130th anniversary.

Similar to my comments before, here's the biggest issues:

I hope the above is of some help. I review GAs quite a bit, and these things would put me off immediately. I haven't looked into the prose at all, but I'm sure that isn't too bad.
