Years Active
It now says 2010-16, is it really true the One Direction is no more? It did scared me when we though 1D broke up thanks to US Weekly's article, it was later turned into false!
Spencer H. Karter (talk) 05:52, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
- Yes as of January 2016 the group is no longer active.--Krystaleen 02:14, 2 February 2016 (UTC)
Capping off the years as "2010–16" is misleading; they are on a hiatus, which means they are still active as a group. To cap-off the years implies that they have permanently split. Also, listing as "2010–2016" is wrong per Wikipedia's policies on years, not to mention {{Small}} should be used if insisting on using small text, though, it is suggested against using small text for visual purposes in the MOS. livelikemusic talk! 02:35, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- Being on hiatus means they are NOT active. I don't get how you can say they're active at all. It should be listed as 2010–16.--Krystaleen 08:30, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
- "2010–16" implies that they are no longer together as a group. They have not split. A hiatus does not equate to a split. If they split, and it were listed as "2010–16", then all of them would be categorized as "Past members", and that would be false information. livelikemusic talk! 23:51, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Well they are no longer together indeed. They're on perpetual "hiatus", which is for all intents and purposes, a split. See NSYNC.--Krystaleen 06:59, 10 March 2016 (UTC)
- To try and compare this situation to NSYNC is kind of double-sided; yes, NSYNC went on a hiatus, but they later announced their split once solo projects were pursued. 1D have yet to do that, and until they do, they're still considered a collective group. They're on a break, not a permanent split, and until it is announced as permanent, we cannot assume it to be as such. livelikemusic talk! 02:56, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- NSYNC never announced a split though. Lance Bass said he considered them split up a few years later but there was never an official announcement from the group that they've split. It's a very similar situation with 1D now, what with all the members going solo and whispers that it's a permanent split. I do agree nothing is official, but idk listing them as presently active seems very misleading.--Krystaleen 09:55, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- But they have gone on statement to say they are not splitting and have persistently gone on statement to say they are not splitting, and are taking one-year off to pursue solo projects (whether within music or otherwise). And there is nothing noting otherwise. livelikemusic talk! 01:46, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Official members and backing band
I have seen that someone has completely removed both the members of the band AND the backing band, which is in my opinion a very useful piece of information. Every boy band has a backing band, and One Direction has always been touring with the same four musicians:
Josh Devine – drums (2010–) Dan Richards – guitar (2010–) Jon Shone – keyboard, percussion (2010–) Sandy Beales – bass (2010–)
They should be absolutely mentioned in the article, since in every 1D video/concert they play and appear. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Helevorn (talk • contribs) 21:37, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

Put Harry Styles back into the members list, it has not been confirmed and therefore shouldn't be falsely accused.

One Direction has announce on a show that they have recently been on. They had stated that their hiatus is just a temporary thing and that they will come back with new songs with in a year. Louis Tomlinson has recently had a baby boy named Freddy. Recourses do not know if Louis will stay and care for the baby or continue with his career. Harry Styles did not leave the management of the recording company. Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne all stated that 'We just need a year to do our own thing and we are definitely coming back with new songs for the fans' With that proof, One Direction is not splitting and they will continue their tour later on next year in 2017. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.220.204.88 (talk) 22:31, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

remove Ryan Ross from members list
One Direction and power pop genre
One Direction does not fall under the power pop genre, this is why I removed those references because if any music writer, such as the ones you referenced, has labeled them as power pop then they are confused about what the power pop genre entails. Just becuase they may be a reputable source by the wikipedia defintion doesn't mean they are correct in their categorizations, as it is very common for music writers to apply the power pop label to a wide range of bands where it isn't appropriate - as has been stated on the wikipedia page for power pop. By describing the One Direction album as power pop you are spreading incorrect information, and this article is significantly worse for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Buffalo mozzarella (talk • contribs) 01:21, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

I suggest WIkipedia to be the only legal editor for this article, a lot of changes has been made by anonymous and some of the changes are false, based on my observations, they changed the info to create misunderstanding among the fans and public. I hope Wikipedia would take a further look into this article and level up the protection to avoid misunderstanding. Natashazndin (talk) 12:46, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
