Hello, I am an employee of Powtoon, and I have a Conflict of Interest. The current Wikipedia article for Powtoon is outdated and only describes our older animation software. We have recently pivoted to become an AI video generator.
I have prepared a neutral, non-promotional draft of the updated "Lead" and "Product" sections, backed by independent third-party tech reviews, to bring the article up to date. I would appreciate it if an independent editor could review and implement these changes.
Proposed Lead Section: Powtoon Ltd. is a British company that develops cloud-based software for creating animated presentations, explainer videos, and AI-generated video content. The name "Powtoon" is a portmanteau of the words "PowerPoint" (trademarked by Microsoft) and "cartoon".
Proposed Product Section: Powtoon is a web-based video creation platform. Originally launched as a traditional animation tool that allowed users to create presentations by manipulating pre-created objects, imported images, provided music, and user-created voice-overs, the platform has since integrated artificial intelligence (AI) technology.[1]
The platform's AI features include a text-to-video generator, AI-assisted scriptwriting, text-to-speech voiceovers, and the use of lifelike AI avatars.[2][3] Powtoon provides several styles of video creation, including whiteboard doodles, 2D animation, and AI-generated live-action styles.
Powtoon uses an Apache Flex engine to generate an XML file that can be played in the Powtoon online viewer, exported to YouTube, or downloaded as an MP4 file. The software is provided through a subscription-based model (SaaS). Melih VN
