Merge2
OK, let's merge it with Bias-ply tire. i think merging will solve some of the shortcomings; plus the compare and contrast of perfect for two parts of one article. Gzuckier 22:20, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- First paragraph of article is incorrect/incomplete, radial tires were not universally standard in 1976, this only applied to specific models of some brands.
- For examples, see the 1976 Dodge car & truck data book and car selector. For some models like Aspen and Dart (see page 14 and page 40) bias-ply tires are standard, radials are optional). Even full-size Monaco had glass-belted tires (not the same as radial) with radials optional. Scott Satellite (talk) 01:11, 22 October 2022 (UTC)

Mixing radials with cross-ply tyres
We could do with something about the problems of using both radial ply and cross-ply tyres on the same vehicle. It's certain that mixing the two types on the same axle is dangerous, to the point of being illegal in some countries. It's also inadvisable to use radial tyres on the front axle if those on the rear axle are cross-ply. So: if the front axle has cross-ply tyres, and the rear has radials, do any problems exist? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:31, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

I should have been more careful in reading your first sentence. As to your main point, it would seem that cross-ply tires are sufficiently rare that the mixing of the two types may not warrant mention in an enclopedia.
