Hello. I am the subject of this article and wanted to flag a few factual updates that may need correcting.
1. PhD status The article currently states that I am a PhD candidate. I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2023. My thesis is available in the Cambridge Apollo repository: https://doi.org/10.17863/CAM.123873 Could this be updated accordingly?
2. Current academic title My current role is Senior Lecturer in Creative Music Practices (Research) at Middlesex University rather than Senior Lecturer in Popular Music. Source: https://www.mdx.ac.uk/about-us/our-people/staff-directory/dr-sam-leak/
3. Research If appropriate, the article might mention that my doctoral research investigated whether adults can acquire absolute pitch using the “Melody Triggers” method (and provided favourable evidence). The thesis abstract is available here: https://doi.org/10.17863/CAM.123873
4. Discography Two of my prominent album releases appear to be missing: • Adrift (with Dan Tepfer) — review: https://www.jazzwise.com/review/sam-leak-dan-tepfer-adrift • Permission (with Paula Rae Gibson) — review: https://www.jazzwise.com/review/paula-rae-gibson-and-sam-leak-permission
I also appear as a sideman on several other releases which I would be happy to provide a list of on request.
I am raising these points here rather than editing the page directly because I understand that subjects of articles are discouraged from making edits themselves.
Many thanks. Sam Leak 1 (talk) 21:01, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
- Items 1, 2, and 4 (Discography) are fine requests.
- Item 3 appears to be covered in the education section. If you are seeking different wording there, please provide the exact change you want ("this" to "that").
- Item 4 (Sideman) - is this a bit getting into more minor details? Wikipedia really about main points of interest to a general reader (as opposed to a Curriculum Vitae).
- Please edit the request for Item 3. Fiske (talk) 19:49, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
