Launch Date?
Last year there was an edit, changing the seemingly long-assumed launch date of November 17, 2003 due to some apparent archived edits from the site dating back to 2001. There don't seem to be any visible article edits there from before November 2003, and the Simple English version of this page still says 2003 as well. Theroux721 19:29, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, and thanks for the comment. I am around since 2005 or 2006, at which date the Wikipedia was already there. The date I found was 2003. We probably need to make a difference between people talking about creating the Simple English Wikipedia (on mailing lists), and the infrastructure being there, with the first article being created. So there may well be a period of two years to prepare the project. Eptalon (talk) 09:31, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

Any information on its success compared to other language versions?
Is there any information somewhere on how successful this project is? I think it's an interesting project but I suspect it has rather low readership overall and is perhaps even dying. I might be completely wrong. Could information on this (with references) be added? EMsmile (talk) 12:18, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
