Steven Goldstein (civil rights activist) → Steven Goldstein (activist) – There are six entries on the disambiguation page for Steve Goldstein and only one is an activist. Per WP:NCPDAB " If possible, limit the tag to a single, recognizable and highly applicable term." Mitchumch (talk) 02:39, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:57, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Mitchumch: queried move request: "civil rights activist" does not look excessively wordy to me, given the importance of civil rights in the modern world. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 04:57, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: I'm not challenging the importance of the term "civil rights activist" in the modern world. My argument is centered on the term that was used to disambiguate it from the other five articles. There were no other activists among them.
- Steve Goldstein (diplomat)
- Steve Goldstein (broadcaster)
- Steven Goldstein (civil rights activist)
- Steven Goldstein (racing driver)
- Steven R. Goldstein
- Daniel Andrew Gross and Steven Goldstein
- To simplify the disambiguation term (one word, instead of three words), I reduced it to activist. The article will discuss his civil rights activity. This rationale is why I cited WP:NCPDAB above in my original request. Mitchumch (talk) 09:52, 13 April 2019 (UTC)

Steven Goldstein (activist) → Rabbi Steven Goldstein (rabbi) – Steven Goldstein is now a full time rabbi and no longer working as an activist. Wikimedwin (talk) 19:37, 20 October 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. {{GearsDatapacks|talk|contribs|in solidarity}} 21:08, 27 October 2026 (UTC)
- "Rabbi" twice?! Joe vom Titan (talk) 19:59, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- It does seem like most rabbis listed List of rabbis don't use either one in the article title but we should distinguish this from the prior title with (activist) in it. Also we should distinguish it from the other Steven Goldsteins. Wikimedwin (talk) 20:20, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
Maybe Rabbi Steven Goldstein (activist) if we want to call hum "Rabbi Steven Goldstein".Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:20, 20 October 2026 (UTC)- If we call him Rabbi Steven Goldstein, the "(activist)" disambiguator is unnessary. Joe vom Titan (talk) 20:28, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Oops missed that, there appears to be no need to disambiguate then, I assumed there was due to the suggested qualified title. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:32, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- If we call him Rabbi Steven Goldstein, the "(activist)" disambiguator is unnessary. Joe vom Titan (talk) 20:28, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Any problem if we use "Steven Goldstein (rabbi)" for the article title?
- How is this decided? Wikimedwin (talk) 20:50, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose. While he is a full-time rabbi today, what he is actually notable for is being an activist. 162 etc. (talk) 21:13, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- If a person becomes the President, wouldn’t the title of the article about them be changed to reflect this new position? Wikimedwin (talk) 21:04, 21 October 2026 (UTC)
- Comment See also a previous RM from 2019 above. 162 etc. (talk) 21:13, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Comment Rabbi Steven Goldstein is not a good title, per WP:TITLESINTITLES. 162 etc. (talk) 21:16, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Support Steven Goldstein (rabbi) per WP:TITLESINTITLES. Joe vom Titan (talk) 21:35, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Agree. Wikimedwin (talk) 21:36, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Support Steven Goldstein (rabbi). Wikimedwin (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:47, 20 October 2026 (UTC)
- Support Steven Goldstein (rabbi) per above.--Ortizesp (talk) 17:06, 21 October 2026 (UTC)
- How do we reach a consensus here? Wikimedwin (talk) 21:02, 21 October 2026 (UTC)
- What if the title becomes "Steven Goldstein (activist, rabbi)"? That way people looking for him based on his past notability will find the right one as well as new people that know him only as a rabbi? Wikimedwin (talk) 19:08, 22 October 2026 (UTC)
- We only normally use one qualifier unless it would still be ambiguous with just one, see the discussions at Talk:Madonna (which you can fine by clicking on "Other talk page banners" and the "show" for "Logs and discussions") for example and WP:PRECISION.
