Requested update: Vice-Chancellor appointment
| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Disclosure
I have a declared conflict of interest as I provide paid communications support to the University of Bedfordshire. My client is the University of Bedfordshire and my employer is More Fire PR Ltd. In line with Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidance, I am suggesting this update for independent editors to consider rather than editing the article directly.
Suggested update
I'd like to suggest updating the article to reflect the appointment of Professor Deborah Johnston MBE as Vice-Chancellor, including the infobox and leadership information where appropriate.
Suggested wording
Professor Deborah Johnston MBE took up the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire in June 2026, succeeding Professor Rebecca Bunting, who retired from the role.

Hello,
Following my earlier COI disclosure and the discussion about making the proposed University of Bedfordshire updates easier to review individually, I am submitting this as a small standalone edit request for independent consideration.
I would like to suggest the following addition to the article. A possible location would be a new “Honorary degrees” subsection, although I am happy to leave the appropriate placement to the reviewing editor's discretion:
"In 2009, the University awarded an honorary doctorate in Arts and Culture to Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan, in recognition of his contribution to the arts, culture and media."

I am working with the University in a professional capacity and therefore have a conflict of interest. I am not proposing to make the change directly and would be grateful if an independent editor could review and implement it if considered appropriate.
Many thanks. MFergu (talk) 13:12, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
