COI tag (October 2021)
Several editors are closely associated with the University of Sheffield. Apparently various parties are misusing the encyclopedia as a WP:SOAPBOX to either promote the institution or to advocate their internal political standpoints. Kleuske (talk) 11:05, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
- I would add that the section is biased and defamatory in places because it is written by an editor who has a conflict of interest and represents University of Sheffield UCU's side of the dispute. The account is factually accurate, but should be written in a less inflammatory, more objective way. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.167.254.172 (talk) 11:43, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

Concerns regarding selective promotion and citation quality
I have noticed a pattern of edits where properly cited content from reliable news sources is being reverted, often labelled as "vandalism". This appears to have occurred previously in 2021 and again in 2026.
Specifically:
- Content sourced from reliable publications that presents factual information about the university is being selectively removed when it provides unfavorable information about the institution.
- Some of the existing citations in the article (particularly those relating to research intensity and rankings) either do not support the claims made or lead to dead links. I believe a cleanup is required to:
- Restore improperly removed sourced content
- Fix or remove citations that no longer work (WP:LINKROT)
- Ensure all claims are properly supported per WP:V I welcome discussion on specific edits.

- Wikipedia supports balanced coverage of university content, including critical and negative information where properly sourced. See Trump University as an example of an article that documents controversies alongside institutional information. Russell Group membership does not exempt a university from WP:NPOV. All institutions are subject to the same standards of balanced, verifiable coverage. ~2025-37997-44 (talk) 21:31, 24 January 2026 (UTC)
