Proposed updates to relocation and facilities section

Hello, I’m affiliated with the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and wanted to propose a few updates to the article to improve accuracy and reflect recent developments.

Specifically, I’d like to expand the section about the museum’s relocation to its new facility on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University. The current article only briefly mentions the planned move, but there has since been additional coverage, including the groundbreaking and progress toward the new building.

Here is a proposed addition (written to remain neutral and concise):

"In 2023, the museum announced plans to relocate to a new facility on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach. Groundbreaking for the new building took place in 2024, with construction supported by local and regional initiatives. The move represents a continuation of the museum’s operations in a newly developed space."

Good Article nomination

I've moved the nomination template to the top of the page, since that is where GAN templates belong. That being said, I'm sorry but I don't think this page is ready. The page reads too much like a bulleted timeline (see WP:PROSELINE); nearly all the paragraphs in the "History" section begin with the phrase "In [DATE]". There are many unsourced statements, including entire paragraphs. The "Relocation to Virginia Wesleyan University" section is disjointed, with each sentence in its own paragraph, and has little cohesion from sentence to sentence; it reads as if different people decided to write that section piecemeal.

This is just the "History" section I looked at. Looking at other parts of the article, it seems to be missing entire sections for topics such as collections (temporary or permanent), or even a very cursory description of the building. Please take a look at the good article criteria. I also recommend looking at Wikipedia:Good articles/Art and architecture#Museums and galleries for ideas on how to structure this article. Thanks for the detailed feedback. I’ve revised the History section to reduce timeline-style phrasing and improve overall narrative flow, as suggested. I'm sorry but I have to quick-fail this nom because it's far away from meeting GA criterion 2. Five CN tags aren't that many on an extensive article but this is a small article and five can feel like a lot. Not to mention they touch on points that are central, not peripheral, to the article (historical and institutional). Feel free to renominate in the future after making sure that all claims/points presented are verifiably sourced. AdaCiccone (talk) 06:33, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
