Error notice

How do we get a review of the VyOS Wiki page so we can possibly get the Error Notice removed? Tmartinson (talk) 09:32, 11 May 2014 (UTC)

I think generally, notices like this are a sign that further work is needed. I've reviewed and cleaned up citations today and I think the article is in good shape, so I've removed the notices. An editor will let us know if I'm wrong... --Trickv (talk) 05:06, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

Requested update to improve sourcing and neutrality

{{edit COI}}

I work for VyOS Networks and therefore have a conflict of interest regarding this article. For that reason, I am posting here rather than making direct edits to the article itself.

I would like to request a review of the article for outdated wording, sourcing gaps, and neutrality. My intention is not to add promotional content, but to suggest improvements based on reliable, independent sources where possible.

I plan to follow up here with specific proposed changes, together with sources, so they can be reviewed by independent editors.

Thank you. Gizzy255 (talk) 16:40, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

Hello! Happy to help. I've gone ahead and deactivated the edit request template for now, since you haven't suggested any specific changes yet. When you do, feel free to reinsert that {{edit COI}} template and it'll show up in the centralized edit request feed again. Thanks! Discourses on Livvy (talk · contribs) 02:23, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
Thank you. Below are specific proposed changes for review.
I work for VyOS Networks and therefore have a conflict of interest regarding this article. For that reason, I am suggesting specific changes here rather than editing the article directly.
1. Lead section
Current text:
"VyOS provides a free routing platform that competes directly with other commercially available solutions from well-known network providers. Because VyOS is run on standard amd64 systems, it can be used as a router and firewall platform for cloud deployments. VyOS can also be optimized to achieve routing at 100Gbps."
Suggested replacement:
"VyOS is used for routing, firewall, VPN, and related network functions, and can be deployed on standard amd64 hardware as well as in virtualized and cloud environments."
Reason:
The current wording appears dated, overly comparative, and narrower than the product scope described elsewhere in the article and sources. The proposed wording is intended to be more neutral and encyclopedic.
Possible sources:

2. Lead section support/LTS sentence
Current text:
"Besides being open-source, VyOS also offers subscription-based support, which includes pre-built images for cloud and virtual environments and LTS images for the 1.3 and 1.4 series."
Suggested replacement:
"VyOS also offers subscription-based support and access to pre-built images for cloud, virtual, and long-term support releases."
Reason:
The current wording appears outdated because it refers specifically to the 1.3 and 1.4 series. The proposed version keeps the statement factual while avoiding version-specific language that may quickly become obsolete.
Possible sources:

3. Releases section
Current text:
"Currently, VyOS 1.4.0 (Sagitta) is in the GA (General Access) stage, with the latest version being VyOS 1.4.0 GA LTS."
Suggested replacement:
Remove this sentence entirely.
Reason:
This sentence is outdated and time-sensitive, and it appears inconsistent with newer release information. Removing it would avoid keeping a prose sentence that quickly becomes obsolete.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Isn't the first sentence the one that was just proposed? DiscoursesonLivvy (talk · contribs) 01:54, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
