Interesting life and work, on fine sources, especially the biography, no copyvio obvious. If you want I can approve the hook, but it would not attract me, being overly general and vague - "good music" could mean so many things. It represents one paragraph in the article at the very end which is a collection of famous names. Please give it at least a subheader which mentions Maine. Most of the article is focused on his work as a choral conductor in New York City, of men, women (the first even!) and mixed, and performing with the NYP, - fascinating. - In the article, there is a bit of repetition, such as "ill health" before he died, or the longish sentence about the mixed choir in the lead (most readers could perhaps count to three ...), but nothing to prevent approval. I made minor changes to the article, feel free to revert what you don't like. Please let me know if you will consider alternate hooks. I'm back home after absence. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:50, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
The image is licensed, and at least gives the person a period, - almost a must. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:00, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: I like the hook and the quote. The broadness of " good music" is what makes the quote interesting/hooky. It leaves me wanting to know more. I don't want to propose an alternate. I think this hook is likely to attract more readers than providing specified details. Best.4meter4 (talk) 15:45, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
